Add the ability to insert a note on a specific day, without having to add time. Such as when an employee takes a vacation day or is sick.
John Smith, did not work. On vacation today.
or John Smith, did not work. Took personal day.
Something to have a reference for that particular day.
Thanks for sharing your support for this idea here! As support continues to mount for this idea, our development team will plan how to bring this to you in ClockShark. :)
Reading this idea, and all the comments below, I can see that the consensus is that administrators would like a way to designate an Off/Holiday/PTO day, without having to insert any time for an employee. Currently, in ClockShark there is an available workaround that’s equivalent to the feature being requested.
If you’d like to see how to designate that an employee will be taking (or took) a day off, Morgan from our Customer Success team explains how to do that here: https://soapbox.wistia.com/videos/SkNhqgi9Kc
Feel free to let me know if this video is helpful, or if you have any other suggestions/ideas regarding how we can improve ClockShark for you. I love hearing your ideas.

Should have the ability to mark the shift it self as no call no show etc rather than add time off

Yes!! This is needed very much. This will keep a lot of things in one system.

Let me enter the words sick, late, vacation or no show on employee time sheet instead of just a blank space. That way when I do employee review, I can just print the time sheet & discuss the issues. I don't have to keep a separate log

I like this idea of leaving notes for employees by admins.

I like this idea very much. I think all notes should be view-able by the employee and the admin. I think it's important to an employee to see that call offs, absenteeism and personal days are being recorded to their personnel record.

I suggest adding an option to click on a day on timesheets to be able to type in a not if an employee calls out sick or is a no show, once note is added have say on the top right corner be say green to let anyone know seeing the timesheet there is a note. This would help in the approving process and be able to see why there is no time added on that day rather then having to call the employee to verify.

We have a job called PTO which we track paid days off. However we would like to be able to track non paid days for unexcused, suspended or off without pay days. It would be able to pull up employee and see actually how many days he missed without pay on a report. I have to manually go back and count the days missed.

Allow the Note feature to be used at all times even if the employee did not work that day. Make it so that Admin can add comments such as, no call no show, vehicle problems etc... Also allow employee to submit notes on days not worked. This will allow Admin and Employees to Identify why the employee did not work.

I love this idea as well. This would be very helpful. Right now I have to keep a separate spreadsheet to keep track of when the guys call out for the day. Thanks for listening.

Allow notes to schedules always. I am unable to post any notes on any schedules unless they clock at least one minute in. If they miss a shift due to being sick , I want to be able to make a note that they called in sick or they are taking time off etc. without clocking one minute of time. I would like to just make notes on each day without needing to clock any time.

I'd like to be able to type in notes on the weekly/daily schedule. For example: make a note to remind my self in exactly two weeks from today to ask a customer a specific question, or to remind my self on my schedule to do some kind of task that is not specifically a job. Thank you.

I love the idea!!
However, is there a way to make comments that only the admins can see??
(ie: the excuse called in, pre-planned day off, if it was unexcused, or whatever the case may be, etc.).

I do like the idea of "notes" on the time sheet view of why an employee has no hours or low hours for a day, however, I think there should be a back side for “admins only” to view more personalized notes.
Scenario: I'm in the office, my boss is in the field (Construction). There are call-offs almost daily. It would be nice when he looks and sees "Joe" not here, he can look at the admin only "time sheet area" and see a note that says (from me) “7:15 am Joe called and said he didn't have enough gas to make it to work. Or his shoes don't fit today.”
This wouldn't be visible to the employee, or other employees only the admins. Only for record keeping. What usually happens is (our payroll is bi-weekly) Joe sees his paycheck and wants to know where all his money is...this would allow me to easily bring up a sheet on the computer (instead of a bunch of post it notes) and say "remember last Wednesday you didn't work because your hat wasn't dry!"
It would help out tremendously since my boss and I are never at the same place at the same time.
*Disclaimer: Not all call-off excuses are ridiculous, but I'm sure you've all heard your fair share of weird ones too!*

Have the ability to mark an employee absent for purposes of tracking attendance daily. Sometimes the app doesn't work properly for us and having the guys turn in their own time isn't always the best practice for some people. So if I am aware on any particular day they weren't at work I can mark it immediately and not have any confusion during payroll and no argument because we can't remember in 2 weeks if they were on the job or not.

a clean Zero time with notes with out doing the work around

A way to mark "No Time" on day there are no work hours.

Some way to log a vacation day on the system.
The ability to add a note to a given day on the schedule would also allow more specific descriptions for jobs. Remaining tasks to complete on a job change as the job progresses and different field technicians can have different tasks or even unrelated tasks on a given job compared to other techs also present at the job.
Currently the "Description" field doesn't show up on the schedule along with the job Name & Number. Even that would help with my request.
It would benefit our field crew and office staff to be able to glance at the schedule and be able to know specifically what type of work we are going out to perform by looking at the schedule. Just a few words is usually adequate. "Mulitple window installs", "glass replacement", "trim replacement", "water leak investigation" etc.
Jordan Wall commented
The problem is with your "work around method" is you can't look up total sicks days reported because your reports filter searches by hours! So when you add time and take it away by putting in a break period of same time as the shift, it won't allow your system to catch it.

That's a long way to get it done but its good to know you can designate a sick day off. I hope I can remember all that.
